The federal government of Nigeria has revealed its readiness to shut down any orientation camp of the National Youths Service Corps found to have violated guidelines put in place against Coronavirus.
According to the minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, who disclosed this during media briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, which held in Abuja on Monday, affected members of the closed camp will be posted to the camp of a nearby State.
He said, "Going forward, any state that refuses to cooperate fully — 100 percent — in the aspect of COVID-19 protocol adherence, full testing using the RDTs, and also data management by the approved staff of the NCDC, the health ministry, and also the trained doctors, that state will have its orientation camp shut down and the corpers would be sent to adjoining states."
The federal government has agreed to open orientation camp nationwide, something which was against recommendation by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led committee.
To avoid the likely surge of the virus among corps members at the orientation camp, the federal has agreed to to shut ant centre where its member flouts the protocol.
