An ongoing research suggests why men are more prone to the novel Coronavirus than women.
A high level of enzyme "ACE2" has been found to be the reason why men are the most affected gender compare to their female counterparts.
The study showed that Men's blood has more ACE2 (an enzyme that allows virus infections) than that of women.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2) is an enzyme that allows Coronavirus to infect cell and allow fast spreading of the virus in an infected person,an European study suggests why men are more vulnerable to the COVID-19 infection.
It is found in the heart, kidneys and other organs. It is believed this is how COVID-19 causes respiratory problems which manifests around the throat before it progresses to the lungs.
The COVID-19 has affected over 4million people worldwide with men accounting for over 70% of the total affected persons.
