US COVID-19 case reaches new record as Europe announced highest daily cases

The United States of America and many European nations are in their worst era of the COVID-19 as the case reaches new milestone in both in the US and Europe where the fast spreading Omicron is getting out of hand 


While the US health officials on Tuesday announced over 400,000 new cases; over 413,729 cases were announced by France, Portugal, Greece and England.

According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 441,278 cases were recorded on 27 December, being the highest by the agency since the beginning of the disease in the country.

Also, France, UK, Portugal, Greece and Italy have  reported one of the countries' biggest cases. France on Tuesday reported 178,807 cases, the highest daily number ever to be reported by any european country.

The French health minister, Olivier Veran warns of possible glut in the number of cases as he said up to 250,000 daily cases can be seen in coming days. 

Other European countries with high daily cases includes Portugal with 17,172 cases, Greece with 21,657, Italy with 78,000 and England with a record 117,093 cases.

Even though Omicron is known to pose less hospitalisation rate than the Delta variant, it is more likely to spread faster than it preceding variants.

The World Health Organisation, WHO, has warned of risk posed by Omicron to "remains very high".
