W.H.O brokers deal with Pfizer to distribute up to 40 million COVID-19 vaccine among poorer nations

The World Health Organisation has brokered deal with German multinational pharmaceutical company, Pfizer to roll out up to 40 million doses of Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine for poorer nations.

The organisation's Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom yesterday lamented possible moral catastrophy arising from low vaccination among world poorest.

With vaccine already developed by world biggest nations, most are likely to be distributed among own populaces before being given out to others.

Over 180 countries have signed up to the Covax initiative, which is supported by the WHO and a group of international vaccine advocacy groups. Its aim is to unite countries into one bloc so they have more power to negotiate with drug companies.

Announcing the deal, Pfizer disclosed on its official Twitter account, that it has signed agreement with COVAX to distribute up to 40 million doses.

This is a hope much alive for poorer countries whose had lamented possible high cost of the vaccines or scarcity of the vaccines.
