COVID-19: World confirmed cases hit 100 million as case keep rising

A disease which was first announced in Wuhan in November 2019  has now spread as wildfire affecting over 100 million people.


According to data from John Hopkins University, the total confirmed cases in the world is now  100,164,399 as at 23:02(GMT-8)  Tuesday, 26 January 2021.

Also, the death toll arising from the virus is now 2,157,349 globally. 

The United States of America remains the most affected country with 25,439,570 confirmed cases and 425,119 Covid-19 related deaths putting the country's figure far beyond world average of 11,000 cases both in term of confirmed cases and death toll.

Brazil which falls behind India in term of confirmed cases has more casualties than the second world most populous country with over 219,000 people reported to have died from the disease.

In Africa, South-Africa remains the epicentre of the disease with over 1.2 million confirmed cases and 41,000 covid related deaths.
