Popular Bengali actor, Indrajit Deb, has on Saturday died following a battle against cardiac arrest, a family member has said.
Indrajit who has been battling cardiac arrest, one of the world leading killer disease, on Saturday gave up the ghost.
According to reports, the veteran actor had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), died at his Gol Park residence in the southern part of the city.
The 73-year-old lost his wife a year ago, as the couple did not have children.
He becomes one of the world popular celebrities who have died of the sickness including TV star Zarina Roshan Khan aka Indu Dadi who passed away due to cardiac arrest last year October.
Cardiac arrest usually results from an electrical disturbance in the heart and not the same as a heart attack.
It is causes as a result of abnormal heart rhythm such as ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation. Some cardiac arrests are also caused by extreme slowing of the heart's rhythm (bradycardia).
It has been identified as one of world deadliest heart ailments.
