1,861 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Wednesday in Nigeria

1,861 new Covid-19 cases was on Wednesday 27, January, 2021 recorded in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced.

According to the centre which made the disclosure on its official Twitter account, 773 cases were recorded in Lagos State, as the state continues to battle the second wave of the virus.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which is the second most affected area recorded 285 on Wednesday which was followed by Oyo and Rivers State where 138 and 111 cases were recorded respectively.

Other states includes Plateau, 92; Nasarawa, 83; Kaduna, 59; Enugu 57; Imo 57; Edo, 43; Kano, 27; Kwara, 20; Ebonyi, 19; Abia 17; Ogun, 12; Osun, 12; Katsina 8; Bayelsa, 6; Bauchi, 5; Delta, 5; Borno 4; Jigawa 4 and Zamfara with 1 case.

With the new cases on Wednesday, the total confirmed cases in the country now stands at 126,160 as the care continues to rise across all states of the federation.

Yesterday 1,089 people were Wednesday discharged from three areas in Lagos State bringing total of discharged people in the country to 100,365. The state include 697 community recoveries in Lagos State, 128 in Rivers State and 116 in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.

However, NCDC reported 22 deaths making it 1,544 people to have been lost officially to the disease since the pandemic started in the country.
