1633 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Saturday in Nigeria as the case passed 120k

1,633 new Covid-19 cases was on Saturday 23, January, 2021 recorded in Nigeria, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced.

According to the centre which made the disclosure on its official Twitter account, 498 cases were recorded in Lagos State were no case was recorded on Friday.

Plateau State, which was fourth most affected state becomes the third after leapfrogging Kaduna State during the week following series of high cases in the state.

On Saturday, 214 cases were recorded followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where 176 cases were recorded with Rivers and Kaduna State where 99 and 98 cases were recorded respectively.

Other states includes Edo, 87; Anambra, 86; Akwa Ibom, 50; Osun, 47; Kano, 40; Oyo 40; Kwara, 39; Ebonyi, 28; Niger 28; Taraba, 28; Ogun 27; Ondo, 21; Ekiti, 12; Katsina, 7; Borno, 6 and Delta with 2 cases.

With the new cases on Saturday, the total confirmed cases in the country now stands at 120,602 as the care continues to rise across all states of the federation.

Yesterday 1,024 people were discharged from all isolation centres nationwide after they have tested negative to the disease bringing the number of people discharged in the country since February last year to 95,901.

However, NCDC reported 5 death on Saturday making it 1,502 people to have been lost officially to the disease since the pandemic started in the country.
