Nigeria records 1041 new case as case nears 100k

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has on Thursday recorded new 1,041 COVID-19 cases across the country as the total case moves sporadically towards 100 thousands.

The new cases brings the total confirmed cases in the country as at Thursday, 24 December to 81,963 creating fear over the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

Lagos State still maintains the lead for the day with 316 cases, followed by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, where 210 cases were recorded.

Other states where new cases were recorded includes Kaduna, 83; Plateau, 70; Gombe, 56; Oyo, 56; Katsina, 47; Nasarawa, 35; Kano, 33; Ogun, 21; Rivers, 17; Niger, 14; Imo 14; Delta 12; Kwara, 12; Edo,12; Benue, 9; Anambra 8 Taraba, 4; Ekiti, 4; Ebonyi Bayelsa 1 and Sokoto with 1 case.

Six victims were lost to the virus on Thursday, bringing the total number of Covid-19 related death in the country since it was first recorded in February to 1,242.

However, 377 people recovered from the virus having tested negative thrice. This makes it 81,963 patients to have been discharged having recovered from the disease, leaving 11,070 people currently with the virus.

Lagos State remains the most hit state with more than 35% of the total cases in country. See full of list below:
