Meningitis rises in Nigeria.

Not less than 324 people have been killed by the meningitis outbreak in Nigeria since December, according to ministry of health.
The country's ministry of health stated that the meningitis
outbreak has killed 324 people mostly children aged between five and fourteen.
More than 2500 people are affect in 16 states of its 36 state,especially Zamfara the worst affected state.

Cerebrospinal meningitis affect 16 of 36 states of Africa most populous nation of more than 180 million people,Boade Akinola,ministry of health spokesperson stated.
Ckikwe ihekweazu,who is in charge of Nigeria center for disease control says the effort to cub the disease is hampered by the worldwide shortage of the the vaccine.
According to him,world health organisation has delivered about 500,000 doses of the vaccine but about three Million will be needed for only Zamfara state, the most hit state in the country.
Meningitis outbreak occur regularly in Nigeria.
Meningitis is the acute inflammation of the membrane that covers the brain and spinal iord caused by microorganisms infection.
It has high mortality rate if untreated
The country rrecorded it worst outbreak of the disease in 1996 which killed over 12000 peopl.
The government with the help of foreign organisation like WHO is needed to combat this disease to avoid the repeat of 1996vs case.
