A large BMJ study suggest that smokers need to completely quit smoking rather than reducing it to significantly reduce heart relate diseases.


Any amount of cigarettes can be devastating as even one cigarette a day were still about 50% more likely to develop heart disease and 30% more likely to have a stroke than people who had never smoked, researchers said.

The study showed there was no safe level of smoking for such diseases.

However, experts believe that those who are able to cut down were more likely to stop.

Cardiovascular disease is known to be more deadly than cancer, it has the greatest mortality risk for smoking, causing about 48% of smoking-related premature deaths.
