A UK man has contracted what is tagged "world-worst super Gonorrhoea."
The man who has a single partner in UK,contracted this disease when he had a sexual encounter with a woman in southeast Asia.
According to public health in England,this is the first time the infection cannot be cured with a first choice antibiotics.
Efforts is on going to trace other ladies who the man has had any sexual encounter with,in an attempt to contain the infection's spread.
The main antibiotic treatment - a combination of azithromycin and ceftriaxone - has failed to treat the disease.
This is the first time such infection would show high level resistance to both of these drugs and to other commonly used antibiotics.
What is gonorrhoea?
This is an infection caused by the bacterium called Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
It is spread by unprotected vaginal, oral and anal sex.
It symptoms is a painful thick yellowish discharge from the sexual organs, especially when urinating and between periods.
It can lead to infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease and can be passed on to a child during pregnancy if not treated.
