Covid-19: Nigeria records 1,005 new cases on Friday

Nigeria on Friday, 12 February, 2021 recorded new 1,005 Covid-19 cases, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC reported.

This was revealed by the health agency on its official Twitter account on Saturday.

According to the report, 205 new cases were on Friday recorded in Lagos while Kwara, Oyo, and Plateau State recorded 155, 124 and 80 respectively. 

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, which is the second most affected area in the country accounted for 75 new cases yesterday.

Others states where the virus was recorded on Saturday includes Edo, 56; Osun, 48; Ondo, 41; Kaduna, 40; Rivers, 40;Taraba, 35; Borno, 32; Ekiti, 21; Ogun, 20; Kano, 14; Bayelsa, 8; Delta, 7; Bauchi, 3 and Jigawa State with 2 cases.

The total cases across the country since it first cases was discovered in Ogun State in February is now 144,521.

Unfortunately, a whopping 24 patients were lost to the virus on Friday bringing the total Covid-19 related deaths to 1,734.

However, 854 patients were discharged from the centre having tested negative to the virus thrice. The dischares yesterday include 408 community recoveries in Lagos State and 99 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines.
