Covid-19: 8 dead as 869 cases recorded in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday recorded 8 COVID-19 related deaths as 869 cases were recorded in the country.

According to the agency which announced this on its website and official social media handle, Lagos State recorded 229 yesterday bringing the total case in the country's most affected state to 53,725.

Also, Rivers which happened to be the most affected State in south-south recorded 70 followed by Taraba, Oyo, Ogun with 73, 66 and 60 cases respectively.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) announced 58 cases on Wednesday putting the country's second most affected area at 18,799 cases.

Other states where it was recorded on Wednesday include Plateau State with 56 cases; Kwara, 38; Ondo 38; OOsun 24; Kano, 22; Nasarawa, 21; Abia, 19; Edo 19; Akwa Ibom, 19; Cross River, 10; Delta,9; Benue, 8; Ekiti, 6; Borno, 6; Katsina, 4; Bauchi, 3 and Bayelsa with a single case.

The total cases in the country as at Wednesday 17th of February, 2021 is 149,139 cases.

While eight people were lost to the virus yesterday, 799 people were discharged having tested negative to the virus.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths now 1,787 and number of discharged patients since the virus was first recorded in February last 125,722.
