Covid-19: 16 dead as 877 cases recorded in Nigeria on Thursday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Thursday recorded 16 COVID-19 related deaths as 877 cases were recorded in the country.

The country's most affected state, Lagos, continues to witness high cases of the disease while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) continues to see downward trend as it falls below 15th place yesterday with 15 cases.

According to the country's disease control centre, Lagos State recorded 273 cases on Thursday followed by Kaduna with 87, Rivers State with 58, Akwa-Ibom  47, Ebonyi 47, Edo 46, Ogun 46, Abia 34.

Also, Imo saw 34 cases, Kano 34 cases, Oyo 26, Osun 22, Gombe 20, Ekiti 19, Cross River 15 and the Federal Capital Territory with 15 cases.

Others State for the day includes Plateau, 11; Enugu, 9; Kebbi, 8; Borno, 7; Niger, 6; Bayelsa, 5; Nasarawa, 4; Kwara, 2 and Kastina and Sokoto with single case each.

The total cases in the country as at Thursday 18th of February, 2021 is 150,246 cases.

While sixteen people were lost to the virus yesterday, 695 people were discharged having tested negative to the virus.

The discharge includes 377 community recoveries in Lagos State, 70 in Plateau State and 28 in Benue State.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths now 1,803 and number of discharged patients since the virus was first recorded in February is 126,417.
