Nigerian COVID-19 cases reach 100k as new 1,024 cases recorded in the country

Total Covid-19 cases in Nigeria has surpassed the hundred thousand mark after new 1,024 cases were recorded on Sunday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced the confirmation of new 1,024 cases across the country on Sunday, as the country battles the second wave of the virus.

According to the agency, 653 new cases was discovered in Lagos making up more than half of the total cases for the day as the state struggle to control the spread.

Plateau State came second for the day with 63 cases while the Federal Capital Territory which is the most affected state only behind Lagos State recorded 42 after Benue and Zamfara state where 48 and 45 cases were discovered respectively.

Other states includes, Rivers, 27; Ondo, 26; Adamawa, 26; Kaduna, 22; Edo, 18; Ogun, 16; Imo, 16; Kano, 9; Yobe, 6; Ekit, 5; Jigawa, 4 and Osun State with 2 case.

The total confirmed cases in the club since the first case was discovered in February in the country is now 100,087 while total Covid-19 related death is 1,358.

However, the total of 80,030 people have been discharged after 613 Covid-19 patients were released on Sunday, leaving 18,679 people currently with the virus.
