NCDC records new 1,244 cases, federal government urges Nigeria to take responsibility

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has on Monday recorded new 1,244 cases, as the country battles the second wave of the virus.

As the cases surpassed 100,000, the federal government during Presidential Taskforce meeting on Covid-19, implored all Nigerians to take responsibility as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

On Monday, the health agency announced that 1,244 new cases in 17 States and in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, were discovered, bringing the total cases in the country to 101,331 confirmed cases.

774 and 125 cases were recorded in Lagos State and the FCT respectively with Plateau State where 102 cases were discovered.

Other states includes Anambra, 47; Ondo, 46; Rivers, 27; Edo, 18; Kaduna, 16; Ogun, 16; Gombe, 16 ; Bauchi, 11; Kano, 11; Nasarawa, 10; Akwa Ibom,7; Sokoto, 7; Borno, 5; Ekiti, 4 and Zamfara state where 2 cases were recorded.

The total cases in the country is now 101,331 placing the country as the second most affected in Africa behind South-Africa.

Unfortunately, three persons were lost to the virus on Monday bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 1,361.

However, 461 patients were discharged on Monday making it 80,481 people to have been discharged in the country since the virus ravaged the country.
