NCDC records 1,444 covid cases in Nigeria on Sunday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported 1,444 new Covid-19 cases across the country on Sunday, 18th January, 2021.

Lagos remains the epicentre in the country and the trend continues on Sunday, as 901 new cases were recorded in the state, accounting for more than 60% of the new cases.

The state has been leading all other states in the country in the number of daily cases recorded in past two week with only the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  coming ahead sparingly.

However, Plateau State followed Lagos State on Sunday with 136 new cases.

The north central state is followed by Kaduna State and the federal Capital Territory (FCT)  which recorded 57 and 54 cases respectively the same day.

Other states includes Ebonyi, 53; Akwa-Ibom, 52; Nasarawa, 32; Osun, 29; Ogun, 28; Imo 16; Oyo, 16; Edo, 15; Kano, 14; Rivers, 10; Ekiti, 7; Borno, 6; Abia, 5; Benue 4; Yobe, 4; Kebbi, 3 and Anambra State with 2 cases.

The total cases in each state are given below;

The total confirmed cases in the country is now 110,387 cases since the first case was first discover in February in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, 1,435 people have been lost to the virus with 15 people died yesterday.

However, 3,950 people were on Sunday discharged from hospital in the country having tested negative to the virus. This brings the total number of people discharged to 89,317.

Yesterday, the total worldwide confirmed cases reached 94,935,551 with the U.S being the most affected followed by India and Brazil.

In Africa, South-Africa remains the epicentre with 1.34 million cases and Egypt which currently has more than 146 thousand cases.
