New 999 Covid-19 cases recorded in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has on Tuesday recorded new 999 Covid-19 cases across the country.

The new case  now brings the total confirmed cases to 79,789 as the as the country enters second wave of the virus amid growing concern over the new variant of the disease.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recorded the highest for the day with 416 new cases which was followed by the commercial capital of the country with Lagos-324 bringing the total in the two areas to 27,091 and 10,122 respectively.

Others state are Kaduna with 68 news cases ;Plateau, 42;Plateau, 42; Kwara, 32; Kano, 24; Gombe, 14; Sokoto, 12, Yobe, 12; Akwa Ibom-11; Bayelsa-10; Rivers-, 7; Bauchi, 7; Ogun, 6, Oyo, 5; Edo, 4 and Taraba, 4.

The news case which brings the total confirmed cases in the country to 79,789, brings the new death to 1231 with four death recorded from 1227 on Monday.

However, another 254 patients were discharged on Tuesday having tested negative to the pandemic three times, bringing the total number of people discharged in the country to 68,879.

The country has been confirmed to be in the second wave of the disease following a surge in number of the cases in country.

Also, there has been call for the country to ban flight from the United Kingdom following a new kind of the virus that has emanated from the island country.
