Signs men should not ignore

Many sicknesses or ailments usually have symptoms at early stage before they develop into critical and delicate condition in their later stage,  where they become difficult to treat or irreversible.

Many of these early stage signs are seen as normal and therefore are most times ignored as a result of complacency, with the hope that they gets better on their own.

Unfortunately, just as the saying which says 'a stitch in time saves nine', the little wound which has been overlooked may becomes something which is likely to cost a lot or even life (incase of terminal disease).

For that reason, it is unwise to ignore the following symptoms which may be your body’s way of telling you that you have a serious health problem.

1) Testicular Lumps
Most men of a certain age have probably been encouraged to regularly examine their testicles for unusual lumps or bumps that could be a sign that something serious has gone wrong. Finding any unusual or abnormal lumps in that area is definitely something that should be addressed by seeing a doctor as soon as possible. Although none of us want to hear the word "cancer," addressing this problem quickly can mean the difference between life and death since testicular cancer is more treatable when it is detected early. Also this symptom may be accompanied by heaviness in the scrotum.

2) Bed Time Urination
Constant waking up in the middle of the night to to urinate is a problem that should not be ignored by men. Prostate problems could be the cause of this and although it certainly is not a sure sign of prostate cancer, it is something to keep in mind and motivate men to talk to their doctor if they start finding that they have to get up in the middle of the night frequently to empty their bladder. Difficulty urinating, a weak stream, not feeling empty after urinating and taking longer than usual to empty the bladder are also sings that should be looked into.

3) Bloody Urine
Although blood in urine is not specific to cancerous issue alone, it should never be assumed that it something that is likely to go away on its own either. It’s most likely that this is caused by an infection or kidney stones, but it is also possible that this could be a symptom of bladder cancer. There is usually no pain that accompanies bladder cancer, but since it will result in death for half of those who develop it, it’s definitely something that requires medical attention as soon as possible.

4) Excess Drinking
Depression is the possible underlying cause here, and men often won’t show symptoms of depression the same way a woman might. Men have a tendency to want to handle their issues without outside assistance and some of them may “self medicate” by drinking too much. Only in recent years has depression begun to get the recognition it deserves as a serious disease. In addition to heavy drinking, others signs of depression to watch for in men include anger management issues, violence, relationship problems and withdrawal from others.

5) Lump Around The Breast
We certainly don’t hear about it as often, but women aren’t the only ones who can develop breast cancer. Although the chance that lump around men's nipples is a sign of breast cancer is very, very low as it is most times caused by something fairly harmless, such as enlarged male breast tissue (gynaecomastia), a fatty lump (lipoma), or a fluid-filled bump (cyst).

In most cases, men who have symptoms of breast cancer will notice it around the nipple where lumps may form. For the most part, men over 60 years old are the ones that need to be most concerned about breast cancer, but it should not be forgotten that it can develop at any age.

6) Baldness
Baldness is one of the most nightmarish condition men could ever wished  because of the disfiguring appearance it causes. However, concerned over being bald should go beyond the conventional disfiguring looks. It’s has been discovered that men who lose their hair are 40 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer. It is believed that hair loss and prostate cancer may be a result of excessive male hormones. Noticing that one’s hair is thinning is probably not a good reason to race of to the doctor worried about prostate cancer, but it is something that should be kept in mind as men age and considered in concert with other symptoms of prostate cancer that may be noticed.

7) Erectile Dysfunction
This condition is a reality for millions of guys all over the world and is particularly likely to occur in older men. Although we are probably accustomed to thinking that this is a problem that is easily remedied by taking a little blue pill, it’s important to realize that it can be a sign that something very serious could be causing the problem. Since blood flow plays a major role in this condition, having this problem could be an indicator of heart disease and is definitely something to talk to a doctor about, and not just to get a prescription for those blue pills that so many men swear by these days!

8) Pain of The Toe
In the vast majority of cases the big toe is going to be where this problem manifests. A pesky and potentially painful condition called gout could be the culprit, and since it is three or four times as likely to happen to men than it is to women, men should pay particularly close attention to this symptom. Gout happens when too much uric acid builds up in the blood stream and causes tiny crystals of sodium urate to collect around joints. The longer gout goes untreated, the worse it is likely to get and sometimes it can result in permanent damage to joints.
