Effect of eating late at night.

Eating late at night which has been habitual in some people could be more damaging that you thought.Although most of us eat late at night due to some reasons or the others.
Whether you eat full meal or just little snack, chowing down late at night night can have some inimical side effects on your health. For one, eating late at night throws off your body's natural performance. You probably know that annoying feeling of being able to fall asleep, but you circadian rhythm and many other hormones in your body are affected by the calories you ingest.
Basically, the later you eat,the less your body is prepared to sleep, which can wreck your memory and efficiency for the next day.
In fact, eating late at night can make you hungrier in the next 24 hours.The hormone Ghrelin,which controls how hungry you feel, uses the naturally occurring fast that happen from 8 p.m to 8 a.m the next day to rest itself. If you don't give your body enough time to fast, then that biological pathway can't occur.
So you'll feel way hungry if you eat late night,but even worse by slowing down your metabolism.Studies have shown that the later you eat the more calorie you are likely to eat, and less sleep you will get. Less sleep equals a slower metabolism,and that means weight gain.
Finally,eating late at night can cause acid reflux. Your stomach takes a few hours to empty out a after big meal, but if you hit that sack and get horizontal right after you eat , acid from your stomach can leak upwards into your oesophagus.
So you know the nutty gritty of why you shouldn't eat at night, but try to eat early in the night before going to bed.
Now let examine reason you rip open a big bag of chips with you teeth long after late in the night.
You are not eating enough during the day.
This seems obvious ,but if you are hungry late in the night, it possible you are eating less during the day. Try eating enough lunch and light dinner to ensure that you have fully digested your food and integrate more fiber into your last meal of the day to stay more full for longer.
Your blood sugar going out of control
If you your blood sugar levels are constantly shooting through the roof and abruptly crashing, your food craving will feel intense.
Processed foods and anything with sugar tend to be higher on the glycemic index and can cause blood sugar surges. Try cutting added sugar out of your diet for a few days and you will notice your evening good cravings disappear.
   Cortisol and stress may cause your craving for late night food.
  Perhaps  you are not hungry, but every week night you find yourself attracted to the the freezer for your nightly pint of ice-cream. If you have been stressed and anxious for the entire workday, the stress hormone 'cortisol' will be triggered. Cortisol increases your appetite for sugar and fat, thus the late night ice-cream or cheese cravings. Combat stress eating by unwinding earlier in the evening: a detoxifying epsom salt bath will help your muscles relax, meditating and deep breathing can lower your blood pressure levels, and a little melatonin can help your body your body naturally prepare for bed and make it easier to fall asleep.
 It is therefore advisable to eat early in the night  to free the body From work load,break down and allow it to rest for the next day activities.
