COVID-19: New 1,143 cases discovered in Nigeria on Saturday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Saturday, 13 February recorded 1,143 new Covid-19 cases in 19 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the centre, Lagos State which remains the most affected State in the country, record 319 on Saturday.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recorded 157 cases which is followed by Kwara, Oyo and Enugu State with 90, 74, and 72 cases respectively.

Other states includes Nasarawa, 69; Imo, 58; Osun, 51; Gombe, 49; Kaduna, 31; Edo, 23; Katsina 23; Kebbi, 23; Ogun, 22; Kano, 19; Rivers, 19; Ebonyi, 18; Plateau, 14; Delta, 7 and Ekiti State with five cases.

The total confirmed case in the country is now 145,664 while the total of 1,747 have been lost to the virus after 13 deaths were recorded yesterday.

However, 1,833 patients were discharged yesterday making it 120,399 people to have been discharged since the first case was recorded in February last year.

The number of cases is expected to rise in the coming days due to the valentine celebration which many lovers are likely to flout the Covid-19 prevention protocol.
