Covid-19: 18 dead as 645 cases recorded in Nigeria on Thursday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Saturday recorded 16 COVID-19 related deaths as 645 cases were recorded in the country.

The country's most affected state, Lagos, continues to witness high cases, as it recorded 282 people with the virus yesterday followed by Ogun State where 72 cases were recorded.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) saw 50 cases of the disease, followed by Kaduna, Osun, Imo, Abia, Borno and Oyo with 33, 24, 23, 21, 18 and 17 cases respectively.

Other states where the cases were recorded includes  Ondo, 19; Plateau, 14; Abia, 11; Imo 11; Nasarawa, 7; Niger, 6; Bayelsa, 5; Delta, 5; Enugu, 3; Ekiti, 2 and Jigawa State with a single case.

Total cases in each state is given below:

The total cases in the country as at Saturday February 20, 2021 is 151,553 cases.

While 18 people were lost to the virus yesterday, 505 people were discharged having tested negative to the virus.

The discharge includes 222 community recoveries in Lagos State in line with Covid-19 guidelines.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths now 1,831 and number of discharged patients since the virus was first recorded in February is 128,005.
