Adeyanju takes jibes at Nigeria politicians denying Covid-19 existence with secret admission

Popular Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju, has taken a jibe at Nigerian politicians who failed to admit Covid-19 existence in public but secretly take it measures including taking vaccines.

The activist who who expressed himself during an exclusive interview with PUNCH News, was specifically referring to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.

The governor had repeatedly denies the existence of the virus in Nigeria, especially in his state where he had accused the federal government of pressurising his government to declare a fake number of cases.

Adeyanju, who is the convener of Concerned Nigerians, has however decried the state of many hospitals in Kogi State, saying that the governor is not doing enough as regards health sector.

The governor, on January, 18 2021, claimed the Coronavirus are dangerous for consumption, thereby discouraging people from taking it.

Although, the country is the least affected in the country with five cases recorded so far, it has been listed as one of the most dangerous States in the country.

However, the Kogi State Government faulted NCDC’s claim, accusing the agency of deliberately peddling falsehood to scare investors from the state.

The activist has now faulted the governor’s claims, saying that "he (Bello) is governing with lies".

He said, "You cannot govern with propaganda. You can not continue to govern with lies. Bello’s lies have expired. We kept saying there are COVID-19 cases in the state, but he kept lying. Some politicians are going secretly to take vaccines and denying COVID-19 existence.

"If you see a typical state in Kogi or hospital, you will weep. The state of some of the hospitals are enough to demoralise and make a sick patient die."

Adeyanju also believes that governor's Yahaya Bello's presidential campaign is just a move to earn himself ministerial slot should in case his political party wins the next election to lead the nation after the current administration.

"He is just contesting to become a minister, not president, should the All Progressives Congress wins in 2023.," he added.
