New 1,598 Covid-19 cases recorded in Nigeria

New 1,598 Covid-19 cases were recorded on Nigeria on Saturday, 16 January, 2021, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported.

According to centre, the new cases were recorded in 24 states including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, during the weekend.

Lagos State continues to experience a hike in number of cases, as 461 new cases  were recorded on Saturday.


The FCT accounted for 206 cases while 197 were recorded in Plateau State.

Other states includes Rivers State with 168 cases; Kaduna, 116; Anambra, 53; Ogun, 49; Ebonyi, 47; Edo, 42; Sokoto, 32; Imo, 31; Katsina, 31; Oyo, 30; Akwa Ibom, 27; Delta, 16; Kano, 16; Abia, 15; Niger, 15; Ondo, 11; Bayelsa, 10; Borno, 9; Kebbi, 8; Ekiti, 7 and Jigawa State with a single case.

The total case in each cases are given below:

NCDC

The total cases in the country now stands at 108,943 with 1,420 Covid-19 related deaths recorded so far since February.

Also, the total of 85,367 people have now be discharged having testing negative to the virus thrice.
