COVID-19: Nigeria records new 1,301 cases as U.S' death toll surpasses 400k

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported new 1,301 COVID-19 cases across the country on Tuesday.

As the country battles the second wave of the virus, NCDC on Tuesday announced 1,301 new cases across 21 states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to the data released on its official Twitter handle, NCDC announced that 551 new cases were recorded in Lagos State, followed by Abuja where 209 people with the virus were recorded.

Other states includes Oyo, 83; Plateau, 65; Kaduna Enugu 61; Rivers, 44; Ondo, 39; Benue, 37; Akwa Ibom, 21; Kano 19; Delta, 18; Gombe 18; Ogun 16; Edo, 15; Kebbi, 10; Ebonyi, 9; Jigawa 1; Osun, 3; Zamfara, 3; Borno and Nasarawa with 1 case each.

The total cases for each state is given below;

The total confirmed cases in the country is now 113,305 while the number of death is now 1,464 after 15 covid related deaths were recorded on Tuesday.

However, 1,269 people were discharged on Tuesday after testing negative to the virus making it 91,200 to have been discharged since the first case was discovered in Nigeria.

Elsewhere, the United States of America as at the eve of their presidential handover day surpassed 400,00 death mark amid high rising Covid-19 cases.

The president-elect, Joe Biden, whose administration's major focus is to curtail the virus has suggested compulsory wearing of mark in his first 100 days in office.
